Southern Snow

Yesterday the Sotheast received a huge surprise and received a MASSIVE snowfall. There was at least half a foot of snow dumped on Athens...a city withour snow plows, salt trucks, or a stockpile of road ash. Plus, few people have much experience driving in the snow. Thus, the entire city shut down. (No school today!) After almost an hour of trying to dig out of Devin's apartment yesterday afternoon (a tree was weighed down blocking the path) and digging out Devin's car, we couldn't even back out of the parking space. We were stuck until the sun came up this morning and started melting the snow. Dropping Devin off at work, we saw trees covering several lanes of traffic, more than half of all the traffic lights out, and cars literally just abandoned wherever they stopped moving. It was quite an interesting sight!

The snow was just POURING out of the sky.
Of course, my Southern fiance had much more fun with the snow than me - I left the North to escape it!
It was fun playing in it for a little while, though!

And, we did a few good deeds by working with some of Devin's neighbors to knock the snow out of the trees and prevent the ones near him from snapping at least.
All in all, it was definitely a fun adventure!

PLEASE bless this food!

Recently, Devin and I have been into making pizza. As a result, I bought him a pizza cookbook for Valentine's Day. We decided to try and make one completely from scratch last Saturday. We made the dough and thought we did something wrong, so we tossed it out. We tried again and realized it was just the dough and had to make our own adjustments. In the end, we had a heavy, heavy dough that didn't want to spread out at all. We baked it anyways (with homemade sauce and everything!) but made sure to pray extra hard before eating it...

In the end, the second one came out better than the first, but both were surprisingly edible!

HaPpY bIrThDaY bRoThErS!!!

Just last week, my brother Matt became a teenager...wow!!! Now, Chaz just turned 15 today!!! I can't believe they are growing up SO FAST!!! (As a matter of fact, I'm in such disbelief that I can't stop using exclamation marks!) But, no matter how old or how tall they get, they will always be my little brothers...

Love you boys!!!

Growing Up...

It definitely feels like Devin and I are moving into the adult world. Devin had his first med school interview yesterday at the Medical College of Georgia. He did amazingly well!!! Also, he talked to an Air Force recruiter and is well on his way to joining their scholarship program. While he was doing all this, I started apartment hunting. If we end up there, I've already picked the apartment complex where we will live!

This is a look at one of the alcoves of apartments at Westbury Creek.

Here is the cute little picnic/barbeque area at the complex.

I fell in love with the city of Augusta. For people from Georgia, it may not be that exciting of a place. But, for someone from the small town of Troy, West Virginia it is HUGE!!! There is so much more in Augusta than anywhere I've ever lived. Plus, it was ridiculously easy for me to find my way around the city. And, I think it would be a fun place to live. But, the med school interviews aren't done yet, so I can't get too attached.

On top of all this, plans are well under way for our wedding. We have a date and time scheduled to get married in the Orlando Florida Temple on May 2nd. Then, we will have an open house scheduled on May 23rd before Devin leaves for Maxwell Air Force Base for Commissioned Officer Training a couple days later. I've found a dress, too, so everything seems to be going great! Now, if we could finally just narrow down where to register...

Dub-Vee Friend Time!

Just a couple weeks ago, my good friend Becky Lovell moved to Athens. I love Love LOVE having an "old friend" here with me. We met up on Saturday to get Cuban food at Cali-N-Titos and to catch up. We are already planning some fun times!

Welcome to Athens B-Love!!!

Happy Birthday Sis!!!

My little sister is now 21 years old!!! It seems like just yesterday that we were constantly inseperable. There are few memories I have without her.

Now that we are older, we are pretty much seperated by a continent, but that doesn't mean we are any less close. She is still my best friend ever, and we celebrated her birthday before she left home with a couple different "mocktails."

Here's to following me 1 year, 6 months, 2 weeks, and 1 day later!

I love you Sister! Happy Birthday!
